Introducing the Wells of Growth Project

ENMT is proud to introduce the Wells of Growth Project in partnership with the Embassy of Canada to Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Botswana. This initiative is geared to empower rural communities in wards 15 and 17, Gwanda, Mat-South.

Located in Zimbabwe’s semi- arid region 5, these communities face frequent droughts since rainfall is low (400-600m annually). Most households are dependent on small scale crop livestock farming for their livelihoods, but climate change has made this way of life increasingly difficult.

With the support of the Canadian Embassy, the Wells of Growth project takes a proactive approach in addressing the adverse effects of climate change in rural communities. To achieve the desired effect, change will be done by improving food and livestock security by establishing a fodder garden that features drought resistant plants like the opuntia (prickly pear cactus) which in turn will feed livestock. To see the community gardens thrive, ENMT will also enhance water access by refurbishing and mechanizing boreholes and develop a sustainable nutritional garden.

At ENMT, we believe in the power of information, community and action

And with Wells of Growth, we’re cultivating hope, one step at a time.
